The interim government has annulled the passports of 75 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, citing their alleged involvement in the July massacre.
During a media briefing at the Foreign Service Academy on Monday, Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder shared this information.
In addition, the Department of Immigration and Passports has invalidated the passports of 20 other individuals accused of involvement in enforced disappearances. However, the press wing did not disclose their names.
Responding to questions from the media, the deputy press secretary stated that the Indian government has been informed of the matter, facilitating the issuance of travel documents. The Passport Department confirmed the cancellation of passports for the 75 individuals, though no specific details about them were provided.
He further stressed that possessing multiple passports is illegal, and in instances of cancellation, it is typically the diplomatic passports that are revoked.
