Harunor Rashid, additional commissioner (crime and operations) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has said he is still in Bangladesh and has not been detained.
Speaking to Bangla Tribune over the phone on Tuesday afternoon, Harun addressed reports on Facebook of his detention at Dhaka airport by the army.
He said he went to his office in the morning but returned home finding no one there.
When asked about attempting to leave the country, Harun responded: “Are you (journalists) saying I returned from the airport? How could I leave yesterday when all flights were cancelled? Flights only resumed today. So how could I have left yesterday? This is just a rumour.”
