Hartal ends with stray incidents

Staff Reporter :The 3rd day of nationwide 72-hour hartal of BNP-led alliance, ended amid stray incidents, including arson attacks and vandalism across the country on Tuesday.The vehicular movement was normal in city through the plying of long distance transports was virtually off the highways. But the movement of trains and water vessels was normal amid schedule collapse. At least seven vehicles were torched by the hartal and blockade supporters. The miscreants also vandalized over 11 vehicles in the capital and several districts.The hartal began from 6:00am Sunday and ended at 6:00pm on Tuesday. In the capital, at least two auto-rickshaws were torched near the Orphanage Road at Lalbagh around 7:15am. At Paltan, at least two petrol bombs were exploded in front of Bhasani Bhaban around 7:00pmA least two cocktails were exploded in front Jubo League office in Gulshan-2 at around 12:45pm. No one, however, was reportedly injured in the arson attack.Meanwhile, two other cocktails were blasted near Housing Society in Mohammadpur at around 6:45am. Another gang of miscreants also hurled cocktails at a passenger bus near Loharpool area in Mohammadpur in the early morning. A passenger was injured in the blast.  On the other hand, at least five crude bombs were recovered from Jatrabari area in the afternoon. In Mymensing, a bus was torched at Trisal in the morning.In Jessore, two buses were torched at around 7:00am.In Rajshai, miscreants torched an auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Chapainababganj highway near Kasiadangi upazila around 6:00am. At least four cocktails were recovered from the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in sherpur upazila in Bogra district around 10:00am.In Natore, two crude bombs were exploded in front of the office of deputy commissioner at around 2:30pm. Another gang of miscreants also set ablaze truck at Natore Municipality in the afternoon. In Gaibandha, miscreants set ablaze a truck on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in the morning.
