The Gulshan Club Olympiad is underway at the Gulshan Club in the capital, with members from various clubs across the country participating in the event.
The atmosphere at the Olympiad was vibrant on Sunday (November 2). In the afternoon, the tennis courts were abuzz with excitement—one hosting the Women’s Singles while the other saw the Mixed Doubles semifinals. Although the players were not professionals, members from different clubs gave their best efforts to secure victory.
The badminton matches were filled with intense excitement. The gallery on the second floor was packed to capacity, with the crowd’s cheers and enthusiasm creating a thrilling environment. After a fiercely contested final, Gulshan Youth Club emerged victorious, defeating Chittagong Club to claim the championship title, thanks to the duo Ripon and Monju.
Expressing his joy after the win, champion Ripon said, “I want to thank the spectators in the gallery for their support. This victory is the result of a joint effort between my brother Monju and me. Both of us are over fifty, and participating in such events keeps both our bodies and minds refreshed. Our opponents also played very well. Thanks to Gulshan Club for organizing this Olympiad.”
Meanwhile, Chittagong Club claimed the Squash Championship title. The squash court offered an excellent viewing area where club members enjoyed the matches comfortably. Speaking about the Gulshan Club Olympiad, Aziz Al Kaiser, former Chairman of The City Bank, said, “This event has brought together members from many clubs across the country, along with their families and friends. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the games. It’s great to see our clubs focusing more on sporting activities. Such initiatives were comparatively rare before, but now, regardless of the available facilities, organizing events like this within our clubs is a commendable effort. My thanks to the members of Gulshan Club and everyone involved in this event.”
