Actress Gulshan Ara Ahmed has passed away. Her death was confirmed by the actress’s daughter Zakia Ahmed at 6:40am on Tuesday. Gulshan Ara was 59 .
Zakia Rezwana told this correspondent, “My mother, Gulshan Ara, was undergoing treatment at the hospital after suffering a heart attack four days ago. She was put on life support after her condition deteriorated on Monday night. This morning the doctors declared her dead.”
It is known that Gulshan Ara was buried next to her mother’s grave after the Asr prayers in Brahmanbaria.
Gulshan Ara made her TV drama debut as a listed artiste of Bangladesh Television (BTV) in 2002. Later, she started working on the big screen with the movie ‘Kodom Ali Mastan’ directed by the late Enayet Karim.
After that, she worked regularly in dramas and cinemas. She also appeared in several films, including ‘Hridoyer Kotha’, ‘Doctor Bari’, ‘Bhalobasha Aajkal’, ‘Lal Shari’, among others.
Meanwhile, Kajol Arefin Ome’s popular series ‘Bachelor Point’, in which Gulshan Ara played the role of Kabila’s (Ziaul Polash) mother ‘Poly Chairman’ of Noakhali, gained popularity among the current generation.
Her passing has deeply saddened the entertainment community, with multiple drama and film organisations expressing their condolences and paying tribute to her contributions to the industry.
