Staff Reporter :

Bangladesh embassy in Lebanon has requested the irregular expatriate workers, who want to return home amid the ongoing conflict there, to fill the designated forms at the embassy before collecting exit visas.

On Sunday, the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut issued a notice providing guidance for those who are irregular workers.

The embassy stated that individuals who have a valid passport but no residence permit (iqama), or who have not collected their residence permit, are considered irregular workers.

This includes those with an expired passport, those with only a photocopy of their passport, those who only possess a BMET (Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training) or manpower card, or those who have neither a passport nor a residence permit, and only have a national identity card or birth certificate.

The embassy clarified that to return to Bangladesh, irregular expatriate workers must obtain an exit visa from Lebanon’s General Security Office after paying the necessary service charges and fines, which is a time-consuming process.

The Bangladesh Embassy is in communication with the General Security Office and all relevant authorities regarding this matter.

Information on the completion of the procedures to repatriate irregular workers from Lebanon will be provided in due course via the embassy’s Facebook page.

For urgent matters, the embassy has requested that individuals contact the front desk at 71217139 or the helpline at 81744207.
