It gives me pleasure to extend my congratulations to The New Nation on the occasion of its 46th anniversary as one of the oldest English dailies of independent Bangladesh. The New Nation has played a vital role in shaping informed public opinion and upholding democratic values over the past four and a half decades.
In an era when the world faces multifaceted crises ranging from climate change to social inequality and the erosion of ethical journalism the role of a responsible and principled media becomes more crucial than ever. The New Nation has upheld the ideals of objectivity contributing to the country’s democratic journey and to the global understanding of Bangladesh’s progress and challenges.
The fight against climate change and environmental degradation also requires active media engagement. By amplifying the voices of vulnerable communities, highlighting the urgency of adaptation and resilience, and promoting environmental awareness, the media can become a powerful catalyst for positive change. I am pleased to note that The New Nation has been giving due attention to environmental reporting and sustainability issues. which reflects its commitment to building a greener and more just society.
As The New Nation enters its 47th year, I hope it will continue to inspire informed debate, foster accountability, and strengthen public trust through factual, inclusive, and forward-looking journalism. May the newspaper continue to illuminate the path toward a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable Bangladesh.
I wish The New Nation continued success and greater achievements in the years ahead.
