The great Victory Day was celebrated on December 16 in Parshuram with due dignity and through various programmes.
On Tuesday , the upazila administration celebrated the day by firing 31 cannons at sunrise, laying wreaths at the Bilonia Liberation War Memorial and paying floral tributes at the Shaheed Altar.
At 9 am, at the Parshuram Pilot High School ground, under the chairmanship of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sadia Sharmin, with the overall cooperation of Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) SM Shafayat Akhter Noor, a national flag hoisting, parade and exhibition were held to mark the celebration of the great Victory Day.
Officers and employees of various levels of the upazila, journalists, teachers, students, political figures and people of different classes participated in the programme.
The various programs include hoisting of the national flag, parade of police, Ansar and fire service personnel, participation of Cub and Rover Scouts, inauguration of the Victory Fair, felicitation of brave freedom fighters and distribution of gifts, sports with the participation of students from various educational institutions of the upazila, and friendly football matches for adults.
On the other hand, BNP organs and affiliates, including Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP convener and Feni-1 constituency organizational coordinator Rafiqul Alam Majnu, placed wreaths at the Bilonia Liberation War Memorial.
Also present were BNP Nirbahi Committee member Abu Taleb, Upazila BNP convener Abdul Halim Manik, Member Secretary Ibrahim Khalil Moni, Municipal BNP convener Kazi Yusuf Mahfuz, Member Secretary Mahbubul Haque Majumder, and leaders and activists of Upazila/Municipal/Union BNP, Youth Division, Volunteer Division, Chhatra Dal, Mahila Dal, Krishak Dal, Shramik Dal, Matsyajibi Dal, Tanti Dal, Ulama Dal and all affiliate organizations.
