In a heartfelt call to action, students in Dhaka have urged every citizen to contribute, within their means, to assist those impacted by the ongoing floods.
Speaking on Friday morning at a wall painting event in the New Market and Science Lab areas of the capital, the students emphasised the need for widespread community involvement beyond relying solely on the government.
With the support of Rainbow Paints, children and young people sought to depict the urgency for change through their artwork. They conveyed that it is not only the government or public representatives who should step up in times of crisis, but also local citizens who are capable of contributing to society’s needs. Their graffiti reflects a demand for systemic change.
Nabid Rahman Turjo, from the artistic collective
Shilpik Swapno Shishu Kishor Shongothon, highlighted the devastating impact of the current floods, which have left nearly five million people across 13 districts stranded. He stressed that now is the moment for everyone to contribute in their own way, rather than merely waiting for government decisions and interventions. People must come forward, leveraging their own resources to support the flood victims.
