Govt will achieve paddy procurement target at any cost : Food Secy

Secretary of the Food Ministry Md. Masudul Hasan said that the government has fixed the price of paddy, and rice considering the fact that farmers get a fair price, will achieve the target of purchasing paddy, and rice at any price.
Food Secretary formally inaugurated the internal Boro paddy procurement program–’25 in Mithamoin haor upazila of Kishoreganj on Thursday noon.
At that time, UNO in Mitamoin, Khan Md. Abdullah Al Mamun presided over the procurement programme and among others, Regional Food Controller Suraiya khatun, ADC (General) of Kishoreganj, Mijabe Rahmat, Deputy Director (DD) of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Dr. Sadiqur Rahman, and others officials were also present.
Secretary Masudul Hasan told the haor farmers that the future of Bangladesh will be hunger-free.Farmers play the number one role in building a hunger -free Bangladesh.He spoke to farmers and encouraged them to purchase paddy from the government.
Mitamoin Upazila Food Officer Abdur Jabbar said that the target for procurement of 12,489 metric tons of paddy has been set in Mithamoin Upazila this time and the target for rice has been set at 27,138 metric tons of paddy.
This time, marginal farmers have been charged Tk 36 per kg for paddy and Tk 49 per kg for rice.
