Govt uplifts 59 police officers to ASP
Staff Reporter :
The government has promoted 59 officers of Bangladesh Police to the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP).
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification on Monday confirming the promotions. The order was signed by Md Mahbubur Rahman, Deputy Secretary of the Police-1 Branch, on behalf of the President.
According to the notification, the promoted officials include officers from the 34th, 35th, and 36th batches of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Police cadre, as well as officers who received promotions through departmental channels.
The order stated that the decision was made in the public interest and has been made effective immediately.
The promoted officers have been instructed to submit their joining letters to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs through the proper authority. This comes at a time when the government is expanding the force ahead of the next national election. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam recently announced that around 4,000 new Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) will be added to the police.
Half of these new posts will be filled through direct recruitment, while the remaining half will be promoted from within the service.
