Govt tries to eliminate oppositions: BNP

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday alleged that the government is trying to eliminate opposition political parties through killing, force disappearances and such other tactics.
“German based media network ‘Deutsche Welle’ recently revealed a documentary containing the misdeeds of the Bangladeshi elite force RAB. Such documentary proved that the illegal government is trying to cling on power through by cruel activities of RAB and the other law enforcers’ agencies,” the BNP Secretary General said while addressing a press conference at the party Chairperson’s Gulshan office over revealing the party’s Standing Committee Metting’s decision which conducted virtually on Tuesday.
BNP Secretary General said that the party’s
highest policy making body the National Standing Committee thought that the government is trying to use the law enforcement agencies against the protesting people.
“The Standing Committee thought that the government wants to stop all the opposition voices by using cruelty by law enforcers so that no one can say anything against them,” Mirza Fakhrul said.
It also expressed deep concern over the government’s recent action of arresting BNP and the other opposition party leaders and activists across the country, Mirza Fakhrul added.
The standing committee asked the government for immediate release of the detained leaders and activists of opposition parties and cancelations of all false and fabricated law suits filed against them.
It also expressed utmost anxiety over kidnapping and killing a government female official Sultana Jasmine in Naogaon.
It demanded immediate legal action against the involved officials in the incident.  The meeting also asked the government to cancel the Digital Security Act (DSA) and decided to build mass awareness against the suppression by the DSA against Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman, JaiJaidin Editor Shafiq-ur- Rahman and Dainik Sangram Editor Abul Asad.
Mirza Fakhrul said the standing committee expressed its deep condolence over the devastating fire incident in Bangabazar Shopping Complex.
It demanded adequate compensations to allot among the affected traders and employees in the market.
BNP Standing Committee Members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar, Mirza Abbas, Goeswar Chandra Roy, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salah Uddin Ahmed, and Begum Selima Rahman were present in the virtual meeting.
