Govt to support improving standard of films: Mahfuj

Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam on Wednesday said the ministry will provide all-out support to improve the quality of films produced with government grants.
“As part of this initiative, a workshop on enhancing film quality will be organised by the ministry, where experts in filmmaking will be invited,” he said while handing over the first installment of grants to the producers of full-length and short films nominated for government funding at the ministry’s meeting room in the secretariat.

Mahfuj expressed hope that the workshop would play an effective role in improving the standard of films. Regarding the selection of films for government grants, the adviser said this time the films have been selected with the utmost transparency. There is a lot of diversity in the stories of the films nominated for grants this year, he added.

Regarding the production of films on the July Uprising, he said the films should be made with sensitivity in light of the actual events of the July Uprising.
