Govt to send CSE, IT graduates to India for training

In a bid to create IT skilled manpower, the government will send 100 Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and IT graduates under the first phase to Global Education Center of India’s IT giant, Infosys for over two-month-long professional IT training on January 9. The World Bank financed Support to Development of Kaliakoir Hi-Tech Park (SDKHTP) Project under ICT Division is sending the CSE and IT graduates, especially for Java programming and management trainings with an aim to meet the demand of skilled manpower in the IT sector of the country.Of the 100 CSE and IT graduates, 28 are women and they will take professional IT training at the Global Educational Center to begin on January 12 and end on March 24 this year.
Addressing an orientation function organized by SDKHTP Project of ICT Division to sensitize the selected 100 CSE and IT graduates about the training, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak today said Bangladesh has been progressing fast in IT after it started journey towards implementation of Digital Bangladesh in 2009 under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Palak said once Bangladesh was branded as poverty-stricken, hunger and disaster prone in the international arena and now it is being introduced as fast moving country to achieve the target of becoming a middle-income country as charted out in the ‘Vision 2021’.
The number of internet users has gone up to 4.30 crore now which was only 10 lakh when the Awami League led government assumed power in 2009, he said adding the number of mobile SIM users stood at 12 crore.
“But, we have to move ahead to reach the target and you would be the key players to achieve that target,” he said urging the CSE and IT graduates to learn more about IT and attract Infosys by exposing your latent talent and skills. Referring to the ICT Division’s plan to build skilled manpower for the ICT sector, Palak said the Leveraging ICT Growth, Governance and Employment (LICT) Project is giving training for creating 34,000 IT professionals.
