Govt to provide full coop for Tarique’s return: Nazrul
Staff Reporter :
Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul said he is not aware of any legal barrier preventing BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman from returning to Bangladesh.
“If there is any such obstacle, and if we are informed, we will certainly provide full cooperation. We will also take every possible measure regarding his security,” he said.
The adviser made the remarks while speaking to reporters at his office in the Ministry of Law at the Secretariat on Monday.
Asif Nazrul said, “In my view, it is entirely up to him to decide what the right time is. I believe he will return to the country at an appropriate time.”
The law adviser added, “Many of us often comment on why Tarique Rahman is not returning home. But to me, raising such questions feels distasteful. This concerns a mother-son relationship. Whether Begum Khaleda Zia has given any instructions or whether Tarique Rahman has personal considerations -commenting on these issues doesn’t seem appropriate to me. They themselves know best when he should return and what steps should be taken.”
Regarding Tarique Rahman’s return, Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain on Sunday said, “If he says he wants to come, we can issue one time travel pass. The government has not imposed any restriction on his return.”
