A task force is being formed to bring back laundered money from abroad, Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed said on Thursday.
Following a meeting with a delegation of buying houses at the finance ministry, the adviser told reporters that the government had already announced the formation of this task force.
“Since the interim government took over, numerous programmes have been implemented and measures have been taken to address defaulted loans,” he said.
“Banks experiencing difficulties are undergoing reorganisation, while the central bank is working to improve liquidity. Consequently, financial reforms are being pursued.”
Expressing optimism about a swift decline in inflation, the adviser mentioned that import duties on potatoes and onions have been reduced, and instructions have been given to ensure their availability.
Additionally, he discussed monitoring fish, meat, egg, and overall market prices.
He also acknowledged that prices have not decreased yet, citing various contributing factors.
He indicated that while a noticeable decline in inflation may take months, the government is actively working to address this issue.
