Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus emphasised that the interim government’s foremost objective is to ensure human rights and freedom of speech for all citizens of Bangladesh.

“Establishing human rights and freedom of speech for everyone is our prime goal,” Professor Yunus declared during a visit to the Dhakeshwari National Temple on Tuesday.

Addressing the Hindu community, he urged them to see themselves as integral members of the nation, not as separate entities based on religious identity.

“I am here to say we are all equal; there is
no scope for creating any differences here,” he stated.

The Nobel Laureate stressed that in the eyes of the law, no one will be distinguished as Muslim, Hindu, or Buddhist.

“Everyone will be considered as human. Let our rights be guaranteed,” he asserted. “We should treat ourselves as human beings, not by our religious identity.

You (the Hindus) should declare that you are human, citizens of Bangladesh. This is your constitutional right, and it must be ensured. Demand this, nothing else,” he urged.

Professor Yunus also called for public cooperation with the interim government in establishing the rule of law.

“Please help us to achieve this. Have patience, and judge us later on our performance. If we fail, then hold us accountable. That is what truly matters,” he remarked.

He pledged to bring those responsible for attacks on the Hindu and other minority communities to justice, promising legal and punitive actions against the culprits.

“We are committed to building a Bangladesh where everyone is part of one family. There is no question of making any distinctions among family members,” he said.

The Chief Adviser further alleged that the country’s institutions have been systematically destroyed over the years.

“The root of all our problems lies in the fact that our institutions have decayed. This is why these issues persist.

We must refurbish all our institutions as soon as possible,” he stressed.

Professor Yunus concluded by asserting that, with justice in place, everyone will receive fair treatment.

Earlier, the Hindu community’s religious leaders welcomed the Chief Adviser with floral bouquets.

During their discussions, they highlighted the incidents of attacks on minorities in various regions and appealed for a permanent solution to these problems.

Professor Yunus assured them that justice would be served, and the criminals responsible would face punishment to prevent such anarchy in the future.
