The government has launched a special initiative to collect precise information on waste burning, a major source of air pollution.
Air pollution has emerged as a serious threat to public health in Bangladesh. Emissions from vehicles, brick kilns, industrial facilities, and the burning of waste are steadily deteriorating air quality across the country. As a result, health risks—including respiratory illnesses—are increasing, posing particular danger to children, the elderly, and people with existing health conditions.
To address this challenge, the government has undertaken strong measures to identify and control the sources of air pollution. As part of these efforts, a decision has been taken to take firm action against waste burning, one of the major contributors to air pollution, says a press release.
of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
