Adviser to the Ministry of Water Resources, Environment, Forests and Climate Change Syeda Rezwana Hasan said, we want to save all the rivers of the country, including the Baral in Natore. In the past 53 years, the life of the river has been destroyed due to encroachment and pollution.
Infrastructure has been built on the river without assessing the environmental impact. This cannot be solved by the government of one and a half years. The government has taken initiatives to keep all the rivers including the Baral flowing. We want to conduct some plan implementation activities, formulate a long-term plan outline. She said these things while inspecting the Atghoria Sluice Gate and the adjacent rivers in Baraigram Upazila of Natore on Monday.
Bangladesh Water Development Board North-Western Region Chief Engineer Makhlesur Rahman, Natore Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asma Shaheen, Police Superintendent Md Amjad Hossain, Baraigram Upazila Nirbahi Officer Laila Jannatul Ferdous, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ashraful Islam, Joari UP Chairman Ali Akbar and Member Secretary of the Baral Protection Andolon SM Mizanur Rahman were present there.
