Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, Bangladesh will begin a pilot project for an online bail bond system aimed at streamlining the release process for detainees. Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul announced this initiative during the inauguration of the Attorney General’s Office Internship Programme at the Supreme Court Auditorium.
Currently, after a court grants bail, an individual must navigate through up to 12 procedural steps before release, often involving financial transactions and facing potential harassment. The new online system will allow a single click to transmit the bail order directly from the court to the respective jail, thereby eliminating these cumbersome steps.
This system has been developed using government funds, without any external assistance, and is expected to reduce delays and corruption in the bail process.
The pilot project will be launched at the Narayanganj Circuit House, and if successful, it may be expanded nationwide.
This initiative is part of broader judicial reforms, including the establishment of a separate judicial secretariat and the finalization of key laws such as the Judicial Secretariat Act, Enforced Disappearance Act, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Act, and Human Rights Act.
The government aims to implement these reforms using its own financial resources, citing significant deposits in institutions like the Probashi Kalyan Bank and the Inspector General of Registration Office.
This move is expected to enhance transparency, efficiency, and fairness in the legal system, benefiting both detainees and the broader justice system.
