The government has once again pushed back the opening of Dhaka Metrorail MRT-6’s Agargaon to Motijheel section to a new date, Nov 4.
The previous decision to open the route on Oct 29 was postponed due to the prime minister’s schedule, ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, secretary to the Road Transport and Highways Division, said on Friday, reports bdnew24.com.
“There are no other reasons [for the postponement]. The prime minister will open the Agargaon-to-Motijheel section on Nov 4,” he said.
On Aug 20, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader had said the section would be opened to the public on Oct 20, but it was later pushed back to Oct 29.
The metrorail’s Uttara-Agargaon section was opened to the public on Dec 28 last year. Since then all the stations across this section were opened as well. The metrorail currently operates from 8 am to 8 pm.
