NN Online:

Government officials will have an extended break for the upcoming Eid ul-Fitr, with a five-day holiday announced. In addition to the five days, the break coincides with the Independence Day, Shab-e-Qadr, and the weekly holidays. As a result, the country will effectively experience a long holiday period, with offices open for only two days during the 11-day stretch before and after Eid.

The Ministry of Public Administration has set the dates for a five-day holiday for Eid ul-Fitr, expected to begin on March 29, depending on the moon sighting.

The five-day holidays will run through March 29, 30, 31, and April 1 and 2. Of these, Eid day will be a general holiday, while the two days before and after Eid will be official government holidays.

Before the holiday starts, March 28 will be a weekly holiday (Friday) and also coincide with the observance of Shab-e-Qadr. Additionally, March 26 will be a public holiday for Independence Day. Only one working day, March 27 (Thursday), will occur between the holiday periods.

After the holidays, offices will reopen on April 3 (Thursday), followed by the weekly weekend break on April 5 and 6. In total, between March 26 and April 5, offices will remain open for just two days—March 27 and April 3.

As per the regulation, employees are not allowed to take casual leave between the holidays, as that would extend the break, although they can utilise accrued leave.
