The Public Administration Reforms Commission has recommended that the age limit for entering government jobs be 35 years for men and 37 years for women.
The head of the committee, Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, provided the information to the reporters at the Secretariat on Monday.
He said that the final decision will be taken in the meeting of the advisory council regarding increasing the age in the public service.
The head of the committee said, “We have recommended it considering socio-economic aspects. We have not discovered anything new. It exists in many countries of the world. It was taken into consideration that girls get priority in all aspects.”
However, the committee’s recommendation did not say anything about the age limit for retirement.
Amid the students’ movement, the interim government formed a five-member committee on September 30 under the leadership of former caretaker government adviser Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury.
Earlier the committee learned from different sources regarding the review committee formed to recommend the maximum age limit for government jobs.
The demand to increase the age limit for government job entry has been ongoing for nearly a decade, with various movements held on the streets over this issue. Currently, the age limit for entering government jobs is 30, while it is 32 years for the children of freedom fighters.
