The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has taken the initiative to ensure steady supply and stable pricing of essential animal protein products during the holy month of Ramadan.
From the 1st of Ramadan to 28th of Ramadan, mobile sales of dressed broilers, eggs, pasteurized milk and beef at affordable prices are going on in Dhaka city and across the country, said a press release here on Saturday.
Milk, eggs, dressed broiler and beef worth Taka 19,83,54,768 have been sold through mobile sales centers to a total of 6,09,430 buyers across the country till March 19. As a result, the supply and prices of meat, eggs and milk have remained stable across the country, reports BSS.
Priority has been given to areas where public participation was notably high during the July Uprising.
Accordingly, 25 mobile sales centres were established in Dhaka from the beginning of Ramadan.
From March 23, under the budgetary allocation of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, an additional 23 centres will be set up in Dhaka, three in Narayanganj, and 14 across seven divisional offices.
Under this initiative, eggs will be sold (per dozen) at Taka 100, dressed broiler chicken (per kg) at Taka 250, pasteurised milk (per litre) at Taka 80, and beef (per kg) at Taka 650.
Locations of the 25 ongoing Mobile Sales Centres in Dhaka are- near the Secretariat, Khamarbari (Farmgate), 60 Feet Road (Mirpur), Azimpur Maternity Hospital (Azimpur), Naya Bazar (Old Dhaka), Banasree, Hazaribagh (Section), Arambagh (Motijheel), Mohammadpur (Babar Road), Kalshi (Mirpur), Jatrabari (Maniknagar), Shahjadpur (Badda), Korail Slum, Banani, Kamrangirchar, Khilgaon (South of Railway Crossing), Nakhal Para (Lukas Mor), Segunbagicha (Kacha Bazar), Bosila (Mohammadpur), Uttara (House Building), Rampura (Bazar), Mirpur 10, Kalyanpur (Jhilpar), Tejgaon, Old Dhaka (Bangabazar) and Kakrail.
