Staff Reporter :
The main opposition party-BNP on Monday alleged that the government is carrying out intensive operations ahead of its 28 October grand rally in the capital.

“This illegal government is apprehensive about conducting a fair election.

They know the consequences that Awami League will face if a neutral election is held.

Out of this concern, a widespread combing operation is being carried out centring BNP’s grand rally,” BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said while speaking at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital.

The BNP leader also said no more lopsided elections will be allowed in the country.

“To ensure fair elections, people are prepared to confront the challenges of batons, bullets, and tear gas.

They are determined to resist any attempts to manipulate the upcoming elections,” Rizvi said.

“The ruling party men have been creating “fake IDs and pages on social media platforms in BNP’s name and spreading deceptive, distorted, and fabricated information,” he said.

Rizvi also urged all not to be confused by the misinformation.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his family are facing baseless allegations in a conspiratorial manner, he alleged.

The BNP leader said at least 12,930 leaders and activists of the party have been accused in 49 new cases filed over various programmer of the party on October 18.

He said 620 of them had already been arrested. A total of 26,050 had been sued in 395 cases and 2,975 had been arrested since July 28-29.

The BNP leader said around 1,990 BNP leaders and activists had been injured across the country.
