NN Online:
The government has called off the planned one-minute internet blackout that was set to take place as part of the July Commemoration events.

Culture Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki made the announcement in a Facebook post at 9:37 am on Thursday, saying, “Following a brief internal meeting, we’ve decided to cancel the symbolic one-minute internet blackout. However, all other scheduled programmes will continue as planned.”

Farooki noted that the idea had been a subject of internal discussion from the outset. “This was the only segment of the commemoration programme that was added and removed multiple times. Many of us felt the blackout might not be the most effective idea, though it was ultimately included after much back-and-forth. In large-scale initiatives involving many people, such oversights can occasionally happen,” he wrote.
