Govt appoints 34 AAGs

The government has appointed 34 new assistant attorney generals (AAGs) to represent its cases in the Supreme Court.

The Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification on Tuesday regarding these appointments.

According to the notification, signed by Acting Solicitor Sana Md. Mahroof Hossain on behalf of the President, the 34 appointed lawyers will serve as assistant attorney generals under the Law Officers Order, 1972 (P.O. No. 6 of 1972), Article 3(2), until further notice.

Additionally, the notification states that the appointments of all previously appointed assistant attorney generals who were in various roles under the attorney general’s office have been revoked as of August 12.

In their place, 161 Supreme Court lawyers have been appointed as assistant attorneys generals until further orders.

On the same day, another notification announced the appointment of 66 deputy attorney generals.
