The main opposition party-BNP on Sunday alleged that the government has announced war against the people.

“The brutality the government has conducted in the name of suppress the students’ anti-discrimination movement is the rare occurrence in this sub continent. There are unusual situations prevailing in the country now.

The government has announced war against the people,” BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said while speaking at a press conference at the party Chairperson’s Gulshan office.

He called on the government to resign amid the mass upsurge across the country.

“Aiming to suppress the students anti-discrimination movement, the law enforcing agencies, ruling Awami League, Juba League and Chhatra League fire bullets indiscriminately which created heaps after heaps of dead bodies across the country,” Mirza Fakhrul said.

He said huge numbers of bullet hit people is now passing days with agony.

“The government has takes tricks to cover its brutalities by vandalising several installations with its own terrorists and tried to put the liabilities upon the opposition’s shoulders,” he said.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said his party extended full support for the one-point demand of the student-led Anti-Discrimination Movement, urging its leaders, activists, and people from all walks of life to stand by the agitating students.

BNP Secretary General said the entire nation has rallied behind the Anti-Discrimination Movement’s one-point demand for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and the immediate transfer of power to a neutral government, as announced by the student movement organisers at the central Shaheed Minar on Saturday.

“BNP announced full solidarity with the one-point declaration raised by the anti-discrimination student movement and the masses,” the Secretary General said.

“As the nation have faced extreme crisis democracy-loving people and the leaders, workers, supporters, and well-wishers of the BNP and its affiliated bodies at all levels to take to the streets and unite with the students to accelerate the fall of the autocratic government in the larger interest of the country,” Mirza Fakhrul said.

The BNP leader also called upon all political parties, organisations, individuals, professionals, workers, farmers, and the vast masses of people to make the non-cooperation movement a success.

The BNP Secretary General said that a wave of mass uprisings is sweeping across the country, including Dhaka city, against the government.

Mirza Fakhrul said, the law enforcement agencies are now attacking opposition parties’ leaders and activists’ houses and conducting arresting sprees across the country.

“They have misbehaved with the family members and vandalising furniture and belongings and also plundering things,” he said.

“The whole world have astonished by seeing the government’s brutal suppression, killing spree against the anti-discrimination movement,” the BNP leader said.
