This statement was made during a meeting with Tracy Ann Jacobson, US Charge d’Affaires in Dhaka, on Monday.
Chief Adviser Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, briefed reporters following the meeting at the Foreign Service Academy.
He described the discussion between Dr Yunus and Jacobson as cordial, covering critical topics such as US counter-tariffs, Bangladesh’s counter-terrorism efforts, preparations for upcoming national elections, and dialogues with the Consensus Commission.
“Dr Yunus emphasised that counter-terrorism is the interim government’s top priority. He firmly stated that this administration has zero tolerance for terrorism,” Shafiqul said.
Additionally, Shafiqul noted that a Bangladeshi delegation, accompanied by a group of businessmen, departed for the United States on Monday to initiate tariff negotiations.
While the businessmen will not participate directly in the talks, the delegation aims to conclude the discussions successfully.
