The Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP) has been officially registered as a political party with the Election Commission.
The party, which was founded by activists involved in the 2018 quota reform movement, received its registration on Monday with the electoral symbol of a “Truck.”

Nurul Haque Nur, a former vice president of the Dhaka University Students’ Union (Ducsu), serves as the president of the GOP. The party’s registration was confirmed in a notification signed by Election Commission Secretary Shafiul Azim.

According to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), the GOP is now a recognized political party until further notice. The “Truck” emblem has been allocated to the party, making it the 51st registered political party in Bangladesh.

In August, GOP president Nurul Haque Nur had demanded that the Election Commission grant the party registration within seven days. Previously, the party had submitted an application for registration prior to the 12th general election, but the request was denied at that time.
