The overall number of global Covid-19 cases has now crossed 630 million. According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 630,310,204 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,572,790 on Tuesday morning.
The US has recorded 98,877,887 cases so far, while 1,090,802 people have died from the virus in the country, both highest counts around the world.
According to Indian federal health ministry data released on Monday morning, 1,116 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 44,632,004 in the country.
The country also logged 10 related deaths in 24 hours, pushing the overall toll to 528,905 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.
