The overall number of global Covid cases has now crossed 627 million. According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 627,018,121 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,562,012 on Tuesday morning.
The US has recorded 98,572,011 cases so far while 1,087,976 people have died from the virus in the country, both highest counts around the world.
India on Monday reported 2,424 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, bringing the total tally to 44,614,437.
The South Asian country also logged 15 new Covid-related deaths in 24 hours, taking the death toll to 528,814.
