In a notable trend, female students have showcased outstanding performance in this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, outshining their male counterparts in both pass rates and GPA-5 achievements.
The total pass rate across all education boards stands at 83.04 percent, marking a significant increase from last year’s 80.39 percent. Compared to the previous year’s pass rate of 87.44 percent, this year’s 83.04 percent reflects a slight decrease.
It was known that a total of 20,13,597 examinees, including 10,24,803 females and 9,88,794 males, participated in the examinations, with 16,72,153 students successfully passing.
According to the Ministry of Education, 1,82,129 students attained GPA-5 in the SSC and equivalent examinations, with female students surpassing male students by a notable margin, securing 98,776 GPA-5 grades compared to 83,353 by their male counterparts.
This year, the pass rate for female students stands at 84.47 percent, showcasing a 2.90-point difference from the pass rate of male students, which is 81.57 percent.
Jashore Education Board leads the pack with a remarkable 92.32 percent pass rate, while Sylhet Board trails behind with a 73.35 percent pass rate. Additionally, 51 schools reported a zero pass rate, while 2,968 schools achieved a perfect 100 percent pass rate across all 11 education boards.
Despite a slight decrease in the number of GPA-5 achievers compared to last year, students from various boards have excelled. Dhaka Board produced the highest number of GPA-5 achievers, with 49,190 students achieving the feat, closely followed by Barishal, Chittagong, Cumilla, and others.
Outside the country, 347 students participated in the examination, with an overall pass rate of 85.88 percent.
Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel expressed satisfaction with the timely conduct of the examinations and the publication of results within the stipulated 60 days, overcoming challenges posed by the pandemic.
