A fire broke out at a fabric scrap (jhut) warehouse in Gazipur’s Konabari area on Saturday morning, spreading quickly to adjacent residential buildings.
The blaze began around 11:45am, according to Sagar Ahmed, Duty Officer at the Konabari Model Fire Station. Two fire service units were initially dispatched at 11:50am, with a total of six units later engaged in the effort to control the fire.
Mamun, Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service, confirmed that the fire started in the warehouse and extended to surrounding homes. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control by 2:00pm, nearly two hours after it ignited.
No casualties have been reported so far, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
