Staff Reporter :After hiking power and gas prices on Thursday, the government is going to hike gas tariff in December again.The State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu on Friday indicated the possibility of further price hike.”The process to announce the new price of gas in December, 2015 will be started soon,” the State Minister said.Earlier on Thursday last, the prices of electricity and gas have been hiked by 2.93 percent and 26.29 percent respectively on an average that will be effective from September 1.The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the increased prices of electricity and gas in a press conference held in the capital on the day.According to the new prices, the gas supplied to single-burner stoves in households will cost Tk 600 per month and for double-burners, customers will be charged Tk 650.After hiking the price by the 5/- per cubic metre, the CNG at refuelling stations will also become dearer as it will be sold at Tk 35 per cubic metre. Earlier the concerned officials said the hikes would come into effect from 1 September.The BERC increased power tariffs six times since 2009.
