A female garment worker committed suicide by taking toxic liquid at her residence for harassment and threat for gang rape by some local miscreants.
The incident took place at Sardar Para Women College Road under Dakkhinkhan Police Station in the capital on Saturday night, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Afsana Akhter Lovely, 17, daughter of Tofazzal Hossain, hailing from Netrakona district.
Police recovered the body from the house on information on Sunday morning, police said.
Quoting locals, Dakkhinkhan Police
Station’s Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamruzzaman said that Lovely might have committed suicide at around 11:30pm.
Earlier, she went outside her residence for personal matter and some local miscreants teased her.
