Staff Reporter  :
Funding for the Rohingya refugees has been decreased significantly. The monthly allotment of food aid per Rohingya has dropped to $10. In view of this, we need to support them with necessary funds as before. From 2017-2023, Caritas managed $45 million in emergency aid for Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasanchar. About 1 lakh people have been helped during this time. This year, the Rohingya and host communities are also working on a plan to provide 7 million dollars in aid.
General Secretary of Caritas International Alistair Dutton said these in a press conference held at Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Thursday.
Caritas Asia President was also present. Benedict Alo D’Rosario, Caritas Bangladesh President Bishop James Ramen Bairagi, Caritas Internationals Secretary General Alistair Dutton, Caritas Bangladesh Executive Director Sebastian Rosario, Caritas Bangladesh Director-Finance and Administration Rimi Subas Das, Caritas Bangladesh Director-Programme Daud Jiban Das.
