The newly formed committee of the Bashundhara Shuvosangha Kulaura Upazila branch has distributed 60 fruit tree saplings including olive, lemon, guava, jackfruit, date, chalta, ata fruit, and Zara lemon among farmers and members of the local community in Kulaura, Moulvibazar.
The programme took place on Monday afternoon at the Dakbangalore Ground in Kulaura, organised by Shuvosangha.
The event was chaired by Mahfuz Shakil, Kaler Kantho’s Kulaura representative and advisor to Bashundhara Shuvosangha, under the direction of Mohi Uddin Ripon, a member of the executive committee.
The municipal town Officer-in-Charge (OC), Md Omar Faruk, attended as the chief guest and delivered a speech highlighting the importance of the initiative.
He praised Bashundhara Shuvosangha’s social initiatives, noting that tree plantation is essential for maintaining environmental balance.
He described the organisation’s nationwide tree plantation programmes as commendable and exemplary.
Encouraging everyone to take inspiration from the event, he urged the community to plant trees in their homes and surroundings to further the environmental movement.
Md Omar Faruk added that Shuvosangha has earned public recognition through its social, humanitarian, and awareness activities.
He described the sapling distribution as a timely and worthwhile initiative and expressed his gratitude for being invited to participate.
He also pledged his full cooperation in all future initiatives of Shuvosangha.
Former Kulaura Municipality councillor Taslima Sultana Moni attended as a special guest.
Other participants included Upozila Press Club Kulaura General Secretary Najmul Bari Suhel, journalist Shah Alam Shamim, Shuvosangha Vice President Rafiqul Islam Mamun, General Secretary Bashir Al Ferdaus, and Shuvosangha Joint Secretary.
Other notable attendees were General Secretary Mohammad Ibrahim Ali, Moyjul Islam, Organising Secretary Sadia Jahan, Co-Organising Secretary Fardin Kawsar Tanim, Finance Secretary Mifta Ahmed Rafi, Literary and Cultural Editor Sanjida Nahar Shobha, Sports Editor Sadiqur Rahman Siam, and Application Affairs Editor Kefayet Hossain Soleman.
Bashir Al Ferdaus, General Secretary of Shuvosangha, said that the Kulaura branch has consistently served the community through its initiatives and will continue to do so in the future.
He highlighted that Bashundhara Shuvosangha aims to contribute to the country’s development through creative and humanitarian efforts.
He added that tree plantation programmes, including the distribution of saplings, not only raise awareness about environmental protection but also cultivate a love for trees among the next generation.
