Rana Masud, a renowned film director and creative visionary of Bangladesh, has built a legacy of excellence in both the film and media industries. With decades of experience, Masud has earned national and international recognition for his contributions to Bangla cinema.
A graduate of Stamford University, Masud began his career in advertising, serving as Creative Director at Madonna Advertising Ltd and Dhanshiri Media Production House. His advertising background led him to establish Ferywala Communications, a production house specializing in audiovisual content.
Masud’s filmography is marked by award-winning works such as The Residence (Nibash), which won multiple accolades, including Best Director at the SAT Rong Short Film Festival (2021) and Best Screenplay at the Al-Nahj International Film Festival (Iraq). His short film Fragrance (Attar) also garnered international recognition, winning Best Screenplay at the Ouled Trima International Film Festival in Morocco (2022). His documentary The Battle of Belonia captured the essence of Bangladesh’s Liberation War, receiving widespread acclaim.
In addition to his films, Masud has directed over 300 advertisements for major organizations like BRAC, UNICEF, and ICDDR-B. His public service announcements and docudramas, such as Guptodhan and Joyeetar Joy Jaatra, have further cemented his reputation in media.
Masud’s impact extends to education, as he mentors aspiring filmmakers at the Bangladesh Film Institute, sharing his knowledge and passion for storytelling. His films have been showcased at prestigious festivals, including the South Asia International Film Festival (Canada) and the Al-Nahj International Film Festival (Iraq).
