Freedom fighters’ family submits 8-point demand

Freedom fighters’ family and Bangladesh Independent Candidate Unity Parishad submitted memorandum consisting 8-point demand to the interim government’s chief adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus on Thursday.

Advocate Nurtaz Ara Oishi and Abdur Rahim, Shaheed freedom fighter Abdul Quader’s son, Chairman of Bangladesh Independent Candidates Oikya Parishad, submitted the memorandum.

Apart from this, the Freedom fighters’ family has asked to the Dhaka District Commissioner and the Administrator in charge of Dhaka North City Corporation to pay 5000 crore taka for the 53-year compensation due to the Shaheed Muktijoddha family.

The application was submitted on Wednesday. The 8-point demands included- 1. Bangladesh Kalyan Party Chairman Major General (retired) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim and former BNP leader Barrister Shahjahan Omar, who participated in the 12th parliamentary elections, should be arrested and prosecuted.

2. The Top Ten incident should be resolved within 45 days by listing the victims of Hasina’s oppression and institutions according to the police station.

3. The long-pending demands of the martyred freedom fighters’ families regarding Bhashantk and Kalmilata Bazar Slum Rehabilitation Projects compensation should be given and resolved quickly. 4. 100 similar projects including the rehabilitation project undertaken by NSPDL should be launched on an urgent basis to improve the living standards of the common slum dwellers and the poor people without government money. 5. Compensation should be given to each family by listing the martyrs of the student-mass movement and giving them the status of national heroes. The injured should be properly treated and rehabilitated.

6. Strict measures should be taken against bribe takers, corrupt persons, money launderers, looters and terrorists.

7. The provision of seeking the support of one percent of the voters before the election of independent candidates should be abolished, and 8. The interim government should build image of the country by wide publicizing the issues of Hasina regime’s torture nationally.

It is to be noted that Freedom fighters’ family and Bangladesh independent candidates Oikya Parishad have continued a week-long continuous movement for 8-point demand since last August 14.
