A devastating three-vehicle collision involving a battery-operated van, a Mahindra vehicle, and a pickup van occurred in Madhupur, Tangail, resulting in the death of four individuals and injuring several others.
The accident took place at approximately 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 16, near the hilly forest area adjacent to Borbai Orphanage along the Tangail-Mymensingh Regional Highway.
Eyewitnesses reported that the pickup van was completely mangled in the crash, and four passengers traveling in the Mahindra vehicle succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Several injured victims were immediately rescued and admitted to Madhupur Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Following the incident, personnel from Madhupur Police Station and the Fire Service promptly arrived at the site and initiated rescue operations. The bodies of the deceased were recovered and transferred to the Madhupur Upazila Health Complex for postmortem procedures.
Bimal Chandra Pain, Sub-Inspector of Arankhola Police Outpost, described the incident as “highly tragic.” He added, “Efforts are underway to identify the deceased. The involved vehicles have been seized, and traffic flow on the highway has now returned to normal.”
