Former Manikganj-1 lawmaker and ex-director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Naimur Rahman Durjoy, was arrested by Manikganj Detective Branch (DB) police during a special operation at his residence in Dhaka’s Lalmatia on Wednesday night.

The arrest was confirmed by Rezaul Karim Mallick, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Dhaka Range.

According to a Manikganj DB official, multiple cases are pending against Durjoy, including one related to an alleged attack during the anti-discrimination student movement. He is expected to be produced before the court on Thursday (July 3) following due legal procedures.

Earlier, on January 21, the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court ordered the seizure of Durjoy’s 2,523-square-foot apartment, land, and three vehicles in Lalmatia in connection with a corruption case. The court also directed authorities to freeze 12 of his bank accounts.
