Former Law Minister Abdul Matin Khasru dies

Abdul Matin Khasru, president of the Supreme Court Bar Association and former law minister, has died of coronavirus at Dhaka Combined Military Hospital on Wednesday. He was 71.
The former law minister left behind wife, one son and a daughter, and many well-wishers.
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed their deep sorrow over the death of Abdul Matin Khasru.
Earlier, Matin Khasru was given life support when his physical condition deteriorated around 10 am on Tuesday.
On March 15, Abdul Matin Khasru gave samples for the corona test at the Parliament Secretariat. Khasru was admitted to Dhaka Combined Military Hospital on March 16 after he tested positive for COVID-19. He was taken to the ICU on March 28 at around 12 pm.
Then on April 1, Abdul Matin Khasru’s corona test result came negative. He was later transferred from the ICU to the general cabin on April 3. Then on Tuesday (April 6) night his personal assistant Mohin told reporters that Khasru was again taken to the ICU of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) as his condition deteriorated further.
Former law minister and Awami League presidium member Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru was elected president of the Supreme Court Bar Association on March 13.
He was a five-time member of parliament from Cumilla-5 constituency. He was the law minister during 1996-2001 Awami League government.
