Former councilor Ehtesham Haque appointed Sylhet divisional organizational secretary of NCP

Ehtesham Haque, the founding joint convener of the party, has been appointed as the Sylhet divisional organizational secretary of the National Citizen Party-(NCP).
The responsibility was given in a letter signed by party convener Nahid Islam and joint secretary Akhtar Hossain on Tuesday (September 30).
Ehtesham Haque, who was given the responsibility of Sylhet division, said, “This is a very important responsibility in strengthening the structure of a new party. I will try to fulfill the responsibility entrusted to me to the best of my ability. I will try to ensure that honest, capable, patriotic and dedicated people can take the leadership in various units of Sylhet division.”
Ehtesham Haque was earlier made a member of the 51-member ‘Executive Council’ of the National Citizen Party by the party. He is the head of the 24-point draft committee of the New Bangladesh Manifesto announced by Nahid Islam. Ehtesham Haque is a potential NCP parliamentary candidate for the upcoming national Sylhet-1 constituency.
Raised in Sylhet city, Ehtesham has worked as a community organizer, political activist and researcher for a long time both at home and abroad. He was an elected councilor in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets Council in the United Kingdom from 2018 to 2022. During this time, he served as the Chairman of the Housing and Regeneration Sub-Committee and the Chairman of the Licensing Committee.
He was also the elected Media and Communications Officer of the Labor Group.
In addition to politics, Ehtesham Haque was also involved in international development projects and research activities. He has served as an international consultant in various projects of the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) of the Ministry of Planning of the Government of Bangladesh and the DPHE of the Local Government Department.
He has also conducted development activities and training in various countries in Brazil, Turkey, India and Europe.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ehtesham played a key role in the health and safety of the BAME community in the UK as the Research and Community Engagement Lead of the Muslim Council of Britain.
During his academic career, he obtained higher degrees in international relations, management, community leadership and law from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of Westminster I London Metropolitan University.
