Former CEC Nurul Huda arrested

Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) K.M. Nurul Huda has been taken into police custody. On Sunday evening, local residents detained him from his residence in Sector 5 of Uttara and handed him over to the police.

Confirming the matter, Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara West Police Station, told Manabzamin that locals apprehended former CEC Nurul Huda from a house in Sector 5 and informed the police. He was then taken into custody.

The OC stated that Nurul Huda will be shown arrested in a case filed at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station. The case was filed by the BNP on Sunday afternoon, naming 24 individuals as accused, including three former Chief Election Commissioners. K.M. Nurul Huda is among the accused listed in the case.

Meanwhile, a video circulating online shows locals placing a shoe around Nurul Huda’s neck while chanting various slogans after his detention.”
