The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a directive for seven ambassadors and high commissioners on contractual appointments to return to the country.
Among them are those stationed in Washington, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, and the Maldives.
The directive was given in separate notifications signed by D M Salah Uddin Mahmud, Director General of the Administration Wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday.
According to the notification, the following diplomats have been instructed to return to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters: Mohammad Imran, Ambassador to Washington; Kamrul Hasan, Ambassador to Russia; Javed Patoari, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia; Shahabuddin Ahmed, Ambassador to Japan; Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, Ambassador to Germany; Abu Jafar, Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates; and Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad, High Commissioner to Mali.
They have been requested to relinquish their current responsibilities and immediately return to Dhaka.
With the formation of the new interim government in Bangladesh led by Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus on August 8 after the toppling of Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government through massive mass upsurge on August 5.
As part of the student movement, the interim government has been formed to overhaul the entire administration and other sectors.
Transfers, withdrawals, suspension and promotion have become the regular event of the country now.
