Koel Mallick is a popular actress from Kolkata. Although she previously acted mostly in conventional roles, she is now focusing on more meaningful and quality work. One of the three Bengali films set to be released at the end of the year is Mitin Mashi. At present, Koel is busy promoting the film.

In a recent interview, while talking about her films and personal life, she was asked, “Your life seems absolutely perfect. Many people wonder whether life can really be this well-organized.” Responding to this, Koel said, “If I am selfish about anything, it is my peace. Because I can do anything in life to attain peace. As a person, I am not emotional at all. That does not mean my life has no problems. Life is not a road strewn with rose petals; it has many thorns, and I have faced them too. Those experiences have remained as lessons in my life. Whenever there is a problem in my personal life, I take some time and then address it by talking directly.”

At one point during the interview, Koel spoke about feminism. She said, “For me, feminism means equality. Now that picture is changing. Unfortunately, many people are beginning to forget that. Our intention should never be to belittle anyone. If a woman says, ‘I am a feminist, so I will not iron my husband’s clothes,’ I have an objection to that. Because we are partners, not competitors.”
