The country’s largest Eid-ul Fitr. Jamaat will be held at historic Sholakia Eidgah ground on Eid day. This time will be the 198th Eid- Jamaat at Sholakia maidan in Kishoreganj town at 10 am.
Islamic scholar, Principle Moulona Md. Saifullah will lead the Eid prayer.
The first Eid Jamaat was held at 1828 on this ground. Moulona Syed Ahamod was the fiest Imam to conducted the Eid Congregation attended by about 125,000 devotees.
Dewan Hybet khan, the sixth generation of emperor Isha Khan, the ruler of Bengal, donated near seven accers land of this ground.
District Administration of Kishoreganj, have been taken all necessary and unprecedented security measures to keep the in the town..
Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Kishoreganj, also president of Sholakia Eidgah managing committee Fouzia Khan said that, like every year, the 198 th Eid-ul-Fitr jamaat will be held with great enthusiasm and solemnity. Mobile phones and umbrellas are not allowed to enter the field.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury BPM told the New Nation that.,We have taken 5- tiers security measures around the sholakia Eidgah and its adjusted areas with deploying around 1100 police members, five platoons BGB, 200 APBNs, Battalion Answers and a large number of RAB including Army personals from a smooth and peaceful.
Apart from the 6 watch towers , civil dress police will continue to monitor security. We are revamping the security system. Besides, six drones having camera however over the entire Sholakia ground during the Eid Jamaat the security foolproof.
Six ambulance and fire services will remain standby round the clock for emergency call. A bomb disposal units, police ‘s quick response team will be there for security perpous.
The Eidgah ground will brought under the coverage of 75 CCTVs.
At least 25 check -posts and 20 Executive Magistrates have been set up surrounding ground which will be monitored round, District Magistrate (DM) Fouzia Khan added.
Later, during 2016, Eid -ul-Fitr Jamaat, militants launched a surprise attack on a temporary police check post near Eidgah, killing at least four people, including two cops.
RAB-14 in Kishoreganj, Squadron leader Ashraful, said that, there is no specific militant threat, but security measures have been taken to ensure foolproof security.
It was known that two special trains called ‘Sholakia Eid Special’ will run on Bhairab-Kishorganj-Bhairab and Mymensingh-Kishoreganj-Mymensingh lines to facilitate participation in Eid jamaat in Sholakia. ‘Sholakia Eid Special-will leave Bhairab at 6 am and reach Kishoreganj at 8 am. Again ‘Sholakia Eid Special-12’ will leave Kishoreganj at noon and reach Bhairab at 2 pm. ‘Sholakia Eid Special-13’ will leave Mymensingh at 6:30 am and reach Kishoreganj at 8:30 am. And ‘Sholakia Eid Special-14’ will leave Kishoreganj at noon and reach Mymensingh at 3 pm.
As per the custom of Sholakia grounds, 5 blank shots of the short gun will be fired before the Jamaat begins. 5 minutes before jamaat”.
