He was the prince of the country’s band music. Legendary singer,
songwriter, composer and guitarist Ayub Bachchu’s fifth death
anniversary was yesterday (October 18). On this day of 2018, he left
the silver guitar and went far away. Yet he is alive in every line of his songs.
Life has to stop sometimes. However, in the case of legends, such sayings do not apply. He may have faced adversity for a while in life. But he was always persistent in his goals.
That’s why Ayub Bachchu was one of the best artistes of Bangladesh in his 27-year band music career and one of the best guitarists in the world.
Ayub Bachchu, who was born in Chattogram, got national recognition long ago due to his successful music career. The successful, active life brought him international recognition.
This distinguished musician was born on August 16, 1962 in Khorna Union of Patia Upazila of Chattogram.
His father’s name is Ishaq Chowdhury and mother’s name is Nurjahan Begum. Ayub Bachchu spent his childhood in Chattogram. Being a child of a conservative family, he had to gain momentum to take music as a career.
Bachchu started his education at Chittagong Government Muslim High School. He started listening to British and American rock music in his youth. Since then he is fond of this genre of music. The rock musician joined the band Feelings in 1978.
He joined the band Souls at the age of 16 in the early 80s. Ayub Bachchu gave his first voice in the song titled ‘Harano Bikeler Golpo’. The song was written by Shahid Mahmud Jangi.
From Souls till 1989, Ayub Bachchu has scratched the hearts of the audience one after another.
In 1986, his first solo album titled ‘Roktogolap’ was released. His second album ‘Moyna’ was released in 1989. Ayub Bachchu’s own band started in 1990. But in the beginning its name was not LRB, but it was ‘Yellow River Band’ (YRB). The first double album of Bangladesh titled ‘LRB-1’ and ‘LRB-2’ was released by his hand.
Ayub Bachchu’s band albums included ‘LRB’, ‘Sukh’, ‘Tobuo’, ‘Ghumonto Shohore’, ‘Ferari Mon’, ‘Swapno’, ‘Amader Bishmoy’, ‘Mon Chaile Mon Pabe’, ‘Achena Jibon’, ‘Mone Achhe Naki Nei’, ‘Sporsho’ and ‘Juddho’. Bachchu gave several popular single albums to the audience.
He presented several popular single albums to the audience. Among them ‘Roktogolap’, ‘Moyna’, ‘Kosto’, ‘Somoy’, ‘Eka’, ‘Prem Tumi Ki!’ ‘Duti Mon’, ‘Kafela’, ‘Prem Premer Moto’, ‘Pother Gaan’, ‘Bhatir Tane Matir Gaane’, ‘Jibon’, ‘Bolini Kokhono’,’Jiboner Golpo’, etc.
Ayub Bachchu also got great success in film songs. The song ‘Aammajan’ in the movie ‘Aammajan’ in his voice has captivated people all over Bengal. He also got great popularity in several other movie songs.
Apart from this, the very popular star Ayub Bachchu was called to sing in various concerts. He also served as a judge on various reality shows.
In personal life, Ayub Bachchu is the father of one son, Fairuz, and one daughter, Tajwar. His wife’s name is Ferdous Chandana.
He spent his life happily with music, family and children. He was suffering from various diseases before his death.
Ayub Bachchu wore a heart ring in 2009. He was admitted to a hospital in Dhaka on November 2012 due to accumulation of water in his lungs. After recovering, he returned to the music arena and started working again.
On October 16, 2018, Bachchu participated in a concert titled ‘In Search of Roots’ at Rangpur District School. He felt ill when he returned to Dhaka from there.
On October 18, when his condition worsened, he died of a heart attack on the way to the hospital from home. He was one of the brightest stars of the music world.
Ayub Bachchu said in an interview before his death that he always wanted to accumulate love. He loved people with all his heart. He has helped many in silence.
All the love he kept was returned after his death. Multiple funerals of everyone’s favourite ‘AB Boss’ were held in Dhaka and Chattogram. Thousands of people participated there.
Another rock star James, his arch-rival, cried like a child after participating in a concert on October 18 due to the pain of Bachchu’s departure.
That cry touched Bangladesh from Teknaf to Tetulia. On that day, it was proved how successful Ayub Bachchu was by accumulating love.
