Bagerhat Correspondent :

Dubla fish drying village (consists of a number of islands) situated in the Bay of Bengal, adjacent to Sundarbans is the biggest sea fish drying center in the country. After meeting up the local requirements the dry fish produced here is exported to the foreign countries. Fish drying works already started at Dubla dry-fish village on November 03 like the past years.
But for want of fish in the Bay of Bengal fishermen and dry fish traders known as Bahaddors are now in great troubles for the last fort night and they are apprehending that if this situation (scarcity of fish in the sea) continues for further time they will be incurred a heavy loss. Recently a cyclonic storm called as “Finjal” formed in the Bay of Bengal. So, it is guessed by the majority of the fishermen of Dubla fish drying village that it is, perhaps, the aftereffect of the cyclone “Finjal”. Motasim Farazi, President of the fishermen of Rampal Upazila (in Bagerhat district) at Dubla Dry Fish village told, we are casting our fishing nets in the sea regularly, but we cannot catch nothing for the last fortnight. As a result of this the fishermen already incurred a loss. Fishermen further told, we are trawling our fishing boats in the sea for 2 to 3 hours at a stretch but there is no catching.
